The Missing Wheels

After this posting, there was some debate about where the front wheels for this crane truck were. This image solves the mystery. The front wheels are set back and, in front of the front wheel assembly, there are the extendable jacks which keep the truck from tipping over when the crane part of the truck is lifting heavy weights.

The Roman Well

We often walk along the beach from Banff to Whitehills (good place to buy fresh fish) and, on the way, we pass the old Roman Well (and I thought the Roman’s didn’t get this far north). It has been there since Roman times (AD 43 to AD 47) and so it was built around 2,000 years ago. They build things to last in Scotland!!! More about this small but nonetheless interesting building here.

I walked to Whitehills and back today and realised it is a 6 mile round-trip. Oh so very healthy!

The Warning (2)

Don’t say you weren’t warned! See previous post. There is nothing at Troup Head to stop you falling over the cliff if you get too close to the edge.

Troup Head is a RSPB sanctuary not far from where we live in Banff. Some magnificent scenery and the sanctuary is teaming with birds and other wildlife. So good that we have these protected sites in the Scotland.
