The ship on a grey day…

These brave ladies were swimming in the sea at Banff, Aberdeenshire, Scotland today. The sea temperature here in Banff today is 10C(50F).
Please see my previous post and then join me as I try to record the tranquil sounds of the River Deveron, near to Banff, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It clearly isn’t my day for field recording! Today is a public holiday and I would expect any self-respecting farmers to take a day off. Not in Banff. So please enjoy the tranquil sounds of the River Deveron passing you by and the delightful sound of a f**king tractor pull a rake around a nearby field. Using my directional parabolic mic (DM), I can hear the sounds of tractors and other industrial noises several kilometres away.
Join me for a walk in the woods close to Duff House in Banff, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
I like looking at these wooden hull fishing boats…
You can’t beat having your bottom scraped…

A regular at Macduff Harbour
A cross between a barge, a tug and a dive-support vessel. The C-Fenna is currently helping to connect offshore wind turbine cables to a shore station close to Banff, Scotland. The wind turbine are way out there in the Moray Firth.
…or the Blue Hour, whatever you wish it to be…
You just can’t beat having a new coat of paint on your bottom…
The Slipway at Macduff is open again…
The action end of a modern trawler…
The Friendly Isle departs Macduff Harbour
If you look carefully, you can see, on the horizon, the mountains on the other side of the Moray Firth – and the odd boat! Read about Portsoy here.
It’s all very quiet at Macduff Harbour today…
I’m trying to break my seriously bad monochrome habit!
One of my favourite work boats…
The Shekhina, sitting on the bottom at MacDuff Harbour leans over in the early morning sunshine.
We thought the Voe Jarl had left for foreign shores but, here she is, back in MacDuff again
This interesting little boat came into MacDuff Harbour this morning…
Or, as we used to say in the days when merchant ships carried Radio Officers – QTP MacDuff (in Morse code of course).
High and dry……
I have no idea what it is but it has seen better days (a bit like me really!)
(AKA a port hole)
In case you are wondering, these ‘wheels’ stop a fishing boat’s trawl net getting caught on rocks on the sea bed.
Now a nice home for insects and, unfortunately for the insects, a feeding station for woodpeckers…

Snow in May? Who would have believed it?
Cranes, these days, controlled from a radio-control box. Clever stuff!
Don’t forget to lubricate your parts…
Again, this seaweed probably has a proper name…but it looks like spinach to me!
It probably has a proper name but it looks like tagliatelle to me!
Colorful if you’re in the US! Rocks in the bottom of rock pools here in Banff, Scotland. Wonderful colours and plenty of sea snails hiding between the rocks.
It looks like the surface of the moon but I think (but don’t know) that these little critters who live on the rocks down on the beach are barnacles. Somebody will, I’m sure, correct me if I am wrong.
