The Voe Jarl sits in the corner and waits…

Photographs, Video and Stuff
I have a soft spot for the Voe Jarl – something of a cross between a tug and a workboat. The Voe Jarl arrived in MacDuff Harbour tonight. MacDuff Harbour and the town of MacDuff are extraordinarily quiet at the moment with all pubs and restaurants closed because of the virus. Let’s hope we get back to normal soon.
Many years ago I worked on deep sea salvage tugs and, since then, I’ve always had a soft spot for tugs. The second image shows the tug Statesman, the first tug I went to sea on in 1972 (this makes me feel VERY old!). The radio callsign of the statesman was 6ZQS (Liberian) but was changed to GSAA when the Statesman became registered in Britain (something to do with the Cod War!). The front of the Statesman looked like one of those expensive ocean-going yachts.
Anyone who knows me knows I have a soft spot for tugs (and old tug man!)
People who know me know that I used to be a ‘Tug Man’ and worked on a number of deep sea salvage tugs – a long time ago. I’ve always had a soft spot for tugs! Here’s one that has just arrived in Monnickendam.
My first ship!
