The Drum Girl

You have to lift the weight and toss it over a high bar…
Reference my last post: and in case you were wondering, a caber is something like a telegraph pole that you have to pick up, carry and then throw into the air. Not something you should really try at home…
If you have ever wondered how to toss a caber, here’s a man who will show you how to do it.
We went to the Cornhill Highland Games today to watch highland games (tossing the caber, hammer throwing (I think that is what it is called), tug of war and so much more. We were also entertained by the very excellent Portsoy Pipe Band.
Here’s a bit of video showing the games…
Please see my previous post and then join me as I try to record the tranquil sounds of the River Deveron, near to Banff, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It clearly isn’t my day for field recording! Today is a public holiday and I would expect any self-respecting farmers to take a day off. Not in Banff. So please enjoy the tranquil sounds of the River Deveron passing you by and the delightful sound of a f**king tractor pull a rake around a nearby field. Using my directional parabolic mic (DM), I can hear the sounds of tractors and other industrial noises several kilometres away.
Join me as I try to record the sound of birds today. It is public holiday here today in Scotland. There is no wind. It would have been a perfect day to record bird sounds in the woods near to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duff_HouseDuff House in Banff, Aberdeenshire. Wonderful bird sounds but oh my, the noise of a f**king tractor on Banff Golf Course provided unwanted background noise to the recording of the birds who were really going for it in the woods today. Pah!
A rare appearance on this blog…
…or is it a Banksy painting?
Katy taking a walk in the woods…
…another one of those chickens with a red chest..
It would appear Percy Thrower is channeling through my videos…
Always good to turn one of these over…
After the last few postings, some degree of normality returns…
It’s enough to make your throw up. Surely there are better images than this? Surely better use can be made of the Photoshop Neural Filter. NFT anyone?
Another example of truly horrible art that must surely be worse than any of the other rubbish I’ve knocked out over the years. This abhorrent image, if you cared to look at it, would have the same effect as having red hot needles plunged into your eyes. You have been warned. Look away now. NFT anyone?
Another image bites the dust after being ravaged by the Photoshop Neural Filter. It is cruelty on an epic scale. This image has been well and truly brutalised. Further abuse has been applied to this image using a symmetry filter. My cruelty towards images knows no bounds. Lovers of fine art everywhere, feel free to weep. NFT anyone?
More Photoshop Neural Filter cruelty going on here. A perfectly reasonable image ruthlessly sacrificed in the name of art (art, after all, is what you can get away with isn’t it?). NFT anyone?
It’s what happens when you let me run amok with Photoshop’s Neural filter – a dangerous tool in the wrong hands! You’ll find the original unsullied image below…
More Photoshop Neural Filter sculduggery..(digital doodling).
It’s clever how nature unpacks itself. Brilliant engineering…
We take them for granted but we’d be stuffed without them…
This is a strange one…
Join us on a British Airways flight and listen to the pilot briefing the passengers about the up and coming flight to Chania, Crete. I’m sure someone will tell me that the image I have chosen is not that of an Airbus A380!
Join me in a cave close to the Libyan Sea in Crete. The cave was a natural echo chamber. Listen to the waves breaking and the echo as the sound of the waves bounced around inside the cave. You will also hear me tramping about in the cave. There was no sand but plenty of gravel underfoot.
Join me for a walk in the woods close to Duff House in Banff, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
It was the colour that caught my eye..
If you go down to the woods today….
Join me in a Taverna right next to the sea in Hora Sfakion, Crete. Listen to people enjoying a fine meal and you will also hear the sounds of the waves washing up on the nearby beach. What a wonderful place to enjoy Greek food.
We’re firmly back in Scotland!
Needs a lick of paint!
Coming to get you!
There’s never an iceberg when you need one!!!
We left Crete yesterday and return to the UK after a wonderful three weeks staying at the Vritomartis Naturist Resort.
And updated copy of yesterday’s video
Hoda was our guide today as we walked down the Imbros Gorge in Crete. A 8 kilometre hike!
Our stay in Crete at the Vritomaris Naturist Resort is coming to an end. We will miss it!
How many times in life do we have to make a yes/no decision?
Join me at the Vritomartis Naturist Resort close to Hora Sfakion, Crete as I listen to the very busy bees and other insects buzzing around large plants close to our beautiful room which overlooks the Libyan Sea. You might also hear the occasional bird!
These tiny spotted beetles (top left of image) spent the whole day in the bush outside our room mating. Twosomes, threesomes, foursomes – beetles, it seems, have a really good and varied time in the mating season. Lucky them!
A wonderful local dish which is a pancake, filled with feta cheese, with honey on top. Delicious!
I came across this little chap whilst I was wandering around the mountains in Crete today. He or she wasn’t best pleased to see me and soon scampered off. We’ve been trying to work out whether anyone owns the goats or whether they are just wild…
