No inexpensive sandwiches here!
A wonderful local dish which is a pancake, filled with feta cheese, with honey on top. Delicious!
Join me on one of our British trains. Over the years I’ve learned that the food on our British trains generally is massively overpriced and doesn’t taste so good (French trains so much better in all respects). Please note that it is the train loudspeaker system that is delivering quite badly distorted sound (along with the badly distorted sandwiches!). Brexit = terrible food!
Snow here in Scotland today…
I made lockdown bread today. Okay, I know it looks like a cake but it certainly smells better than it looks!
It is fish and eel smoking day in Monnickendam today.
The funny thing about Costa Coffee shops in the UK is the glass they serve coffee in. The glass is very top heavy and easily falls over when the tray with the glass on it is being carried. Makes no sense to me (and the coffee isn’t that wonderful either!). Sorry Costa.
A great place to park you boat and a wonderful place to eat (free ferry from Amsterdam Central Station).
Smoked fish that glow in the dark?
The smoked eel and herring stands in Monnickendam, Netherlands yesterday.
A sweet way to end the day….
I really must find out what these things are called…
The very best thing about Monnickendam’s Saturday market. Liquorice!
Spotted in the supermarket here in Monnickendam this morning…
Where would we be without McDonald’s?
The Netherlands is the very best place to buy bread. Here’s the young lady at Monnickendam market (Saturdays) when many different types of bread and cakes (yum!) are available. Some of the bread and cakes are cooked on the stall. It doesn’t get fresher than that!
Regarding my earlier post, here’s some delicious Dutch drop (liquorice).
I’ve been out and about today taking photographs of fungi at Hemmeland (not far from Amsterdam and a delightfully secret bit of the Netherlands)
More fungi. No idea what type but pretty…
It is also very hard to not to be drawn to the wonderful smells from the spice shops Dubai…
Blondie in Amsterdam – all alone…
A great way to travel Amsterdam’s canals:
