The Oops Moment…

My wife asked me to order two new broom handles online and, being the obliging, highly obedient, house-trained and dutiful husband I am, I did as I was told (is there any other alternative?). The image shows what arrived in the post this morning. I think, perhaps, I got my measurements wrong. If anyone can think of a use for two very short bits of stick, please let me know.

Indeed! This area was once a shallow sea around 200 million years ago, sea creature skeletons have been found here and this is the High Desert. My home is 2800 feet above sea level.

We’re just above sea level here. And the sea here is cold, cold, COLD. But, that said, there are a group of women who go down and swim everyday of the year in just normal swimming costumes (no wetsuits). They are extraordinarily brave women and I take my hat (and just my hat) off to them!
