Maybe better if we went back to glass bottles?
The Coca-Cola Bottle – Richard Broom Photography
We were up in the Scottish hills this morning where a number of trees have been cut down (to allow others more space to grow we think). We noticed this strange wooden-like growth (shaped like a toilet seat) growing around the top of the tree stump. Appropriately brown! We’re not quite sure what causes this growth. It is solid and is not some kind of fungus. We noticed the ‘toilet seat’ on several tree stumps. What are these growths? That question has got us stumped too. Anyone know the answer?
I like looking at these wooden hull fishing boats…
My ornithology and collective noun skills are clearly out of whack.
An old favourite revived…
This little chap follows us around waiting for food when we take the dog for a walk in the woods.
My wife asked me to order two new broom handles online and, being the obliging, highly obedient, house-trained and dutiful husband I am, I did as I was told (is there any other alternative?). The image shows what arrived in the post this morning. I think, perhaps, I got my measurements wrong. If anyone can think of a use for two very short bits of stick, please let me know.
Robins easily bribed with mealy worms…
Old, bent and twisted – a bit like the photographer who took this photograph!
Beautiful Scotland…

An old favourite re-made…
If tyres (tires if you’re in the US!) could tell their story and talk about their travels….
There is talk of banning the use of old tyres as fenders because, when they fall into the sea, they cause pollution.
Monkey Island: According to this theory, some people believe that as the monkey island was located at the top of the main mast of sailing ships, sailors had to scramble up the ship’s rigging to free or repair the sails and rigging or to keep a lookout for icebergs , reefs, or land. Because the sailors had to climb as the monkeys do, this topmost place was termed as Monkey Island.
Another 30 seconds worth of Scotland..
