The worn out 13 Amp sockets…

At this stage, I think this double 13 Amp socket might be classified as slightly dangerous (sorry Americans, our mains electricity sockets are very different to yours).

Great photo, Richard. Your electric outlets look different and are using 220 VAC right?

Yes, 220VAC over here. I think you’re on 115AC over there. We’re at 50 Hz mains frequency and I think you’re at 60 Hz and so a little different. I hear that DC is coming back into fashion. This would please Thomas Edison if he was alive today. He was not at all keen on AC. I think it was Westinghouse who won the battle eventually. I’m not sure why we have 240V and you have 115V. On our building sites in the UK it is mandatory to use 115VAC and not 240VAC.

Yes, we use 115 or 120 VAC, 220 or 240 runs clothes driers, welding equipment and so on. By building sites do you mean homes and large commercial building construction sites?

It’s OK. Not the first time I’ve seen different ways of saying the same thing between the UK and the States. I say our leaving England was a big family misunderstanding! Honestly, I love that my mother tongue is English! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Well John, we were only joking when let you all have independence! One day, our Queen will rock up in Washington asking for the return of her bit of the New World!! And yes, it was a bit of a misunderstanding and had King George III not lost his mind, things might have been very different. Interesting to note that the Conservative Party (Tory), the same party that is screwing up so badly now, were very pro-war during your fight for Independence and so they were f**king up, even then!!! Life is a circle!!! Trust you’re keeping well over there? Time for some more chilli, surely?

  6. John

Rotten king! I have no issue with the Queen coming here and asking for her part! I had chili for breakfast, you know my favorite foods! πŸ˜‚

I’m sure the Queen would take to your chilli too. I think she’s in lockdown somewhere. Both her and her husband in their 90s and so much at risk. A huge and frightening numbest of people have died of Covid-19 in care homes over here.
