Many thanks John. It’s an interesting town. I work in MacDuff but live over the bridge in Banff. Both town have been through hard times in recent years and this lock-down isn’t helping anyone (apart from the thieves and fraudsters who are taking advantage of, mainly, older folk). Fishing is a big part of both Banff and MacDuff but it gets harder for the fishermen to make money. Big business and bad politics are not helping!
That’s terrible that people are taking advantage of others! I’m sure the same thing is happening here too Richard. Makes me angry.
They used to birch people on the Isle of Man (in the Irish Sea). That was stopped a while ago. However, they used to say that once a person had been birched, they would never ever reoffend. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birching – It would certainly make me think twice about breaking the law!!!
OM Gosh, how awful and painful!!
…but arguably effective. I think all these petty criminals would think twice if they knew they would be experiencing the birch!
A great photo of your town, Richard!
