This one looks like an aircraft and a boat in one.

It is. A large flying boat that was used as a submarine hunter during WW2. It’s a huge great aeroplane. Given the lack of space on land these days (especially in Europe), I’m surprised seaplanes haven’t made a comeback. Many years ago, when I joined Govt Service, there were still people around who had flown all over the world in passenger carrying seaplane. They would fly in the day and put down in the evening and everyone would stay in a hotel. How wonderfully civilised. Flying these days is not a pleasure (unless you turn left when getting on the aircraft of course!).

Wow, that would indeed be a great way to fly! I never heard of this Richard. No wonder it looked boat-ish!
