My favourite aircraft. The Westland Lysander. This was the plane used to ferry Special Operation Executive (SOE) agents into and out of occupied Europe during the Second World War. The aircraft were unarmed, flew at night and the pilots navigated by watch, map and compass (no GPS in those days!). The pilots needed to land and take off from fields in the middle of nowhere guided only by people on the ground with torches. Truly amazing aircraft flown by extraordinarily skilled and enormously brave pilots. Pilots like this one (who I bet you have never heard of).
